At the cabin

Hiking sure can make you tired!

Busy times

Hi! No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth! I have been extremely busy! Last weekend, we helped chaperone a youth outing at a cabin about 40 minutes from here. It was a beautiful little place, owned by the other chaperones parents. We arrived Fri. night and left Sun. morning in time to get to church. There were 4-wheelers to ride, a hot tub, a horse and hiking trails. It was rather eventful. Sat. morning the boys fixed breakfast. They were pretty much clueless in that area , so it was quite interesting. We then found a spot on the carpet where one of them had thrown up in the night and instead of telling anyone or cleaning it up, decided that their best option was to just cover it up with their sleeping bag....a very brilliant decision! Then the next night, I was almost asleep when I heard a puking sound coming from downstairs. I raced down and there again one of the kids had gotten sick and figured that puking on carpet is so much better then trying to get to the toilet. Once again I cleaned up the mess while they sat there watching me. By that time most of the other kids were up and all paranoid that they would get this puking disease. Thankfully, that didn't happen!
Sunday was very busy for us and then I worked almost all week last week and then got ready for a wedding I cooked for on Sat. Needless to say, I was close to crashing on Sat. night. This week is not so busy, except for catching up on all I didn't do last week. It has been very warm here, so I've been spending time outside with the girls in their little kid's pool. A good way to work on my tan!

Mud is quite tasty -- you should try it!!!

The girls were playing quite nicely as I was washing my car one day. I happened to look over and found Kallie trying to get a little drink from the mud puddle! It must be an Engle trait coming through, because her Uncle Jake loved to douse his head in mud puddles when he was her age.

Happy Mother's Day!

Mom! Wow, there's alot packed into that little name. At my stage in life it means wiping runny noses and tiny bottoms; doing laundry ALL the time; barely sitting down to eat when I have to get up again; getting up in the middle of the night to pull the covers up sleeping beauties; finding various items in the toilet; finding dog food or other such inedible things in little mouths; hearing "I love you Mommy"; singing to a small audience who thinks you're the Best; snuggling; kisses(some sloppy); praying; and Loving,Loving, Loving. I'm so thankful that God let me be Mommy to our girls.
I'm also thankful to my wonderful Mama for bringing me into this world; for helping me to want to serve God above all else; for teaching me to pray for my life mate at an early age; for the countless hours of sipping coffee and talking, confiding, praying, laughing; for being a great Nana to my babies. I love you, Mama!
Happy Mother's Day to all you Mommies out there! May God bless you as you raise your darlin's.

Lilacs

Aren't lilacs just beautiful? They are my favorite spring flower. I really wanted to have lots of lilacs as my wedding flowers. But, since we got married in August, that didn't happen. I was thrilled to see lilac bushes here when we moved here, and I usually bring bunches of them into the house. I just wished they stayed longer than a couple of weeks.
